The Elephant In The Room

More than 500,000 people were homeless in January of 2015 according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) (2015). HUD also reported that nearly a quarter of the homeless population was under the age of eighteen, nine percent was between the ages of eighteen and twenty-four, and 68 percent of the homeless population was twenty-five or older (2015).

Homelessness in the United States is a problem many of us seem to turn a blind eye to, but it affects many families and individuals throughout our nation. Although there are those that are homeless because of drug or alcohol abuse, many are homeless due to mental illness, disability, and domestic abuse as well. T’s 4 Hope aims to bring awareness to this problem and give those who suffer from it, a sense of optimism.

This blog aims to focus on issues connected to homelessness such as the ones mentioned above and others as well. With it, we hope to encourage discussion among those of us who are more fortunate, and persuade people to help in any way they can whether it be through donations or volunteer work. If you would like to get involved, please contact us at Ts4Hope@yahoo.com or 954-867-6765.
